It’s possible to lay parquet in your bathroom. Navylam+ parquet from Design Parquet is specially designed to be laid in bathrooms and humid rooms.

What kind of floor should I choose for my bathroom?
When it comes to choosing a wood species for a bathroom floor, it’s important to consider the wood’s ability to resist humidity and water. Exotic woods that don’t fear water, known as rot-proof, are a natural choice:
- Teak bathroom parquet: Teak is a highly variable brown colour.
- Doussié bathroom parquet : Doussié is golden brown to reddish brown.
- Acacia bathroom parquet : Acacia is a wood with a blond colour.
- Iroko bathroom floor : Iroko is known for its variations in shades from yellow brown to dark brown.
- Wengé bathroom floor: Wengé offers beautiful brown colours tending towards black.
The wood species oxidises when exposed to light. The original colour evolves and becomes more homogenous over time. This is a natural phenomenon, which is more pronounced with exotic species.
Bathroom parquet is not available in oak because this wood is not sufficiently resistant to humidity.
What size for a bathroom parquet floor?
Navylam+ solid and semi-massive parquet (Teak, Doussie, Acacia, Iroko, Wengé) is available in 3 sections:
- Solid parquet: 9 x 64 mm, 9 x 68 mm, 9 x 84 mm or 9 x 88 mm
- Semi-solid or engineered parquet: 11 x 86 mm or 15 x 136 mm

How to lay a parquet floor in a bathroom?
Design Parquet recommends that you call in a professional to lay your bathroom parquet to ensure that the work is carried out properly. The floor must be watertight around the edges and joints to prevent any water infiltration that could cause damage. We recommend using Navykit to guarantee your floor.
How to lay Navylam+ parquet?
Laying parquet in a bathroom is a great way to add a touch of warmth and comfort. However, it is important to consider certain elements to ensure a successful and long-lasting installation.
Here are some steps to follow when laying Navylam+ :
- Preparing the surface: before laying the floor, it is essential to ensure that the surface is clean, dry and level. If necessary, you can use levelling or patching to correct any irregularities.
- Glue the floor directly to the subfloor using Navycol PS adhesive.
- Fit the boards together tongue and groove using Navycol+.
- Start laying, remembering to leave a 5 mm expansion gap.
- Apply the joint: NAVYJOINT. Using a suitable gun, apply the joint in the expansion joints of the parquet. The joint should cure at an ideal temperature of 20°C and 50% humidity. Leave to dry for 48 to 72 hours.
- Wipe off any excess glue directly from your floor.
- After laying, apply N+ natural maintenance oil. Renourish your floor once or twice a year (more if necessary) to keep it looking new.
- Even with a water-resistant wood species, it is advisable to treat the floor with a protective top coat to help prevent damage caused by water and damp (water stains, warping). It is also important to ensure that the floor is properly installed and sealed around the edges and joints to prevent water infiltration.

How to maintain a parquet floor in a bathroom?
Maintaining a parquet floor in a bathroom requires special precautions due to the humidity and presence of water. Design Parquet recommends using N+ maintenance oil to maintain Navylam+ parquet. The oil should be applied with a microfibre broom in a thin, wiped coat. The frequency depends on the amount of traffic. For regular maintenance, use S+ maintenance soap to enrich and clean your floor.
How can I prolong the life of parquet in a bathroom ?
Here are a few best practices to prolong the life of your bathroom floor and keep it in good condition for many years.
- Put protective floor pads on the legs of chairs and furniture.
- Carry out regular maintenance using a vacuum cleaner, broom or woollen cloth.
- Do not wash the floor with plenty of water.
- Do not use aggressive, abrasive, silicone or ammonia-based detergents.
- Remove stubborn stains with a damp sponge and a neutral detergent.
- Wipe up any liquid spilled on your parquet directly.
