What is Herringbone parquet?

Herringbone parquet is made up of Herringbones of wood of the same length and narrow width. The strips are laid at a 90° angle, giving the floor a regular, geometric appearance.

The prestige of a Herringbone parquet floor

Herringbone parquet is a prestigious pattern reminiscent of the herringbone pattern. Once destined for bourgeois homes and châteaux, Herringbone parquet is suitable for a wide variety of interior design styles. Whether you have a modern, classic or rustic interior, opting for Herringbone parquet will add a touch of cachet and elegance to your living space.

What type of wood for a Herringbone floor?

Herringbone can be made from several types of wood. The most commonly used is Oak, but exotic woods such as Merbau, Doussié, Walnut, Jatoba, Ipé and Wengé can also be used. Each type of wood has its own specific characteristic, so choose the type of wood according to the decorative effect you are looking for, the traffic in your room and your budget.

Solid Herringbone parquet

Solid Herringbone parquet is made from a single piece of wood, making it particularly solid and durable. Solid parquet can be laid on a concrete subfloor or on an existing floor. The subfloor must be perfectly dry, stable and even to prevent the parquet from warping. Please refer to our installation instructions and the current DTU.

Herringbone, semi-solid or engineered parquet

Semi-solid Herringbone parquet is made up of a top layer of solid wood (3.2 or 4.5 mm thick) glued to a plywood base. This parquet substrate is highly resistant to humidity variations. It can be laid on a concrete subfloor or on an existing floor, provided that the subfloor is perfectly dry and smooth. Please refer to our installation advice and the current DTU.
